icons like all texture files must be of the power of two but must be of equal sides, ie 32x32, 64x64 and 128x128 the icons defaults are the size we will use the same as the game.

Open the screen shots folder and find the head shots you've taken (if you haven't done so hurry up and come back.) open this up in gimp and cut out the head as squarely as yo can, open a new file (as default gimp will choose the same size area as your cutting.) and paste it. In the drop down menu of Image choose scale image. And set this too 128x128. You may need to check the ratio is off when doing this.

Save it as the corresponding icon file ie “icon_head_a1.jpeg”

for the torso and lower icons i find it easier to create a skin which removes the head and the legs etc.., to do this extract a copy of any skin set and edit it to point to a texture that is not there. And name it as the next set up eg _t1.skin. And create a set of icons for them. And pack them in with the other skins.
Start the game and choose the head and legs of the _t1.skins and your see just the torso section. Join the game and take screen shots of the disembodied torso.

Repeat for the legs using the _t1.skin for the head and torso.

Follow the same steps as with the head icons and save all of the new icons in the models/player/grntrooper folder overwriting the originals.

Now when you start the game and choose the new skin you have a full set of icons and Roberts your mother brother the final peace is finished.
